Thanks to Tracy and Andy, Valerie and I got a 24-hour furlough from the kids. We stayed at Costanoa (off of Highway 1 near Pescadero) and splurged for the room at the inn rather than the tent cabins.
We hiked around the Año Nuevo State Reserve the next day. Gorgeous weather and scenery. More photos here:

The gingerbread house that is. Rowan and Una had been waiting patiently for the moment on Christmas Eve when they could smash it up with hammers and dive in.

Rowan had his holiday pageant at César Chávez Elementary last week. It was a full half hour program loaded with songs. Both the morning and afternoon kindergarten classrooms – 40 kids.
They are doing “Cascabel” (Jingle Bells) in this movie. Rowan is at the back left wearing a white baseball shirt with black sleeves.
