After one lesson from the magic hula hoop instructor at the Kate Wolf Memorial Music Festival, Una went from hula-frustrated to hula-riffic. Here’s some video proof (we managed to get her into a dress too):
The kids managed to avoid getting trampled. And I managed to avoid trampling anyone while getting race footage. Rowan did the 1-mile kids run and Una did the 1/2-mile. She was a powerhouse – fast out of the gate and she ran the whole way. Some more photos and lots of race video here: http://flickr.com/photos/keller-calegari/sets/72157613529894684/
Thanks to Tracy and Andy, Valerie and I got a 24-hour furlough from the kids. We stayed at Costanoa (off of Highway 1 near Pescadero) and splurged for the room at the inn rather than the tent cabins.
The gingerbread house that is. Rowan and Una had been waiting patiently for the moment on Christmas Eve when they could smash it up with hammers and dive in.
Rowan had his holiday pageant at César Chávez Elementary last week. It was a full half hour program loaded with songs. Both the morning and afternoon kindergarten classrooms – 40 kids.
They are doing “Cascabel” (Jingle Bells) in this movie. Rowan is at the back left wearing a white baseball shirt with black sleeves.
Check out my Flickr page for other song clips, including: “La Gallinita Roja” (The Little Red Hen), “Los Arboles” (The Trees), “Cinco Ojitas” (Five Leaves), “Hanukkah”, “Te Le” (Kwanzaa song), “Paz” (y libertad por todo el Mundo) (Peace (and freedom for the whole world)), and “La Raspa” (traditional Mexican dance): http://flickr.com/photos/keller-calegari/sets/72157611596648180/detail/
